6th and 7th Sept 2010

Tudor/ Elizabethan Splendour.

With Tutor Frances Pickering.

About the Tutor:

Frances Pickering, makes, and teaches people to make, impressive individual books. Frances loves to experiment and to teach others to experiment, she uses many unorthodox methods to construct and decorate the books. Many recycled materials are used, she starts with cheap unpromising items and turns them into something of great worth. Stunning!

I met Frances at the Alexandra Palace “Knitting and Stitching Show”, and feel extremely privileged that such a talented and busy artist has, agreed to come down to The Priory, as this gives a great boost to the quality events we are trying to get into Mid Devon. Frances has also published a book of her work, called “Page after page”

About the course:

Whatever craft or needlework you are interested in I believe there will be a lot to interest you in this workshop.

Students will learn how to transform simple, ordinary pieces of recycled material and paper- using a selection of mediums- to create a wonderfully rich book, with an organic, textured cover. For more information I thoroughly recommend you to Frances’ website www.stitchhost.co.uk/franny

The cost of this two day workshop is £170 to include mid morning refreshments, two course lunch and afternoon teas. If you require accommodation please book early as we have limited space and these are already filling up. The course begins each day at 10.00 a.m. and finishes at 5.00 p.m.
